Go island hopping in the archipelago!
Island hopping is one of the best ways to discover the Stockholm archipelago. Experience a few days among rocky islets and stay overnight in one of the many hostels and inns that the archipelago has to offer. Bring your tent and travel spontaneously with our boats from island to island. Or make a series of day trips to various destinations. Anything is possible with Waxholmsholmsbolaget's 5 day travelcard – the Island hopping pass.
Waxholmsbolaget's Island hopping pass is a season ticket valid for five days. With this ticket you can travel with all our boats as well as Strömma's Askungen and Cinderella boats. If you want to stay a little longer among islands and skerries we have tickets valid for 30 days too.
The Island hopping pass costs 445 SEK plus 20 SEK in card fee for everyone. After your first trip the card is valid for five days. Buy your card at our manned terminals at Strömkajen in Stockholm city, in Vaxholm or in Stavsnäs.
A flexible way of traveling
You can plan your island hopping almost any way you want, but it’s good to figure a few things out before heading out. Decide on one area that you would like to focus on, consider whether you want to stay overnight and if so, how would you like to spend the night. Do not forget to pack for all kinds of weather.
In Stockholm city our boats depart from Strömkajen by the Grand Hôtel, close to Kungsträdgården Metro station.
Some of our island hoppers choose to make a series of day trips. Others prefer to spend several nights in the archipelago and stay at guesthouses, hostels, in tents or in one of the many bed & breakfasts. It is advisable to book accomodation in advance, especially during peak season.
Waxholmsbolaget's service network is divided into the northern, the central and the southern archipelago. Choosing one of the areas allow you to easily get from one island to another and therefore have time to visit as many islands as possible. You can of course travel between the areas to visit islands in another part of the archipelago. In that case you may have to catch a boat bound for the city and then switch to the right boat taking you to a different area.
